The Origin

WARA was birthed from an idea by a friend who has seen the evolution of my style develop throughout the years. The inspiration for WARA came from my father, who passed away when I was 18. But in the time I had with him I learned so much about how to carry myself and be comfortable with who I am. He was a graphic designer so I saw his creativity displayed throughout our home as well as in his day to day life. Once described as “Asian cool before it was cool to be Asian” I try to embody his essence and style in my life and in this brand.

The Mission

WARA is a reflection of so many individuals and cultures that have made an impact on my life. Style has given me confidence even in moments when I felt otherwise. We all have our own struggles that are unknown to the world. This brand's intention is to inspire those to be comfortable and confident in their own skin. Hopefully this brand will allow you to find comfort in uncomfortable situations.

The idea behind the original design is rooted in my Japanese American heritage and influenced by so many cultures I've been fortunate enough to connect with.

The idea was made real by another friend who added the heart in the design to pay homage to my father as a person and a graphic designer.
